Our Mission
Our mission is to save as many dogs off the streets as well as dogs on euthanasia lists at shelters across Texas. We spay and neuter all dogs in hopes of reducing the number of unwanted dogs in our state. Our goal is to find them homes full of love and compassion.
443 Furever Homes in 2025
WUWF is proud to announce that 443 dogs found their forever homes in 2024! That is a total of 874 dogs in the last two years. This milestone is a testament to the dedication and hard work of everyone involved.

It’s heartbreaking to think about the number of dogs used as bait in dog fighting. We can’t imagine the pain and fear they endure.
Rescues remind people not to give dogs away for free and to spay and neuter their pets, but sadly, not everyone listens.
This sweet girl has been through so much, yet she is one of the most affectionate dogs we have ever met. How she still trusts us, we will never know.
After being attacked by so many dogs, she is still good with other dogs. If only humans could be as forgiving. We have so much to learn from them. ❤️
One of our volunteer transporters picked her up from the Houston SPCA and brought her to our facility. She instantly fell in love with her! Needless to say, she now has a foster home, and we are so grateful that our volunteer saw what everyone else has seen—a sweet dog who deserves a loving home.

Update- 9-3 we found out yesterday from someone who takes their dog to the vet that she was told he is still alive, but is not in good condition. That was as of yesterday. 
Update… 9-2 the owners have not responded as of this morning. We tried contacting the vet. They now will not tell us if the dog is alive or if he is even still there. We let them know that we are willing to help with the Vet cost, especially if they owners cannot afford it. We know it gets expensive taking a dog to a vet. This is heartbreaking for the four of us that were involved in saving this dog. From the lady who originally found the dog and sat with this dog for over an hour to everyone that was helping pick up the dog and sat with him at the vet. We are still waiting in case the owners change their minds. We know they already have two dogs and kids and it has been seven years they said since they’ve seen this dog. If they do not respond by tomorrow, we will find another dog in dire need and we can put the money towards that dog or we can refund anyone that is wanting their donation back. We pray this dog is ok. He deserved better than the life he had.
Update… he is in ICU. Owners have not responded to us anymore. We are waiting to see what they decide to do. We are trying to get them to relinquish him. We have offered to step in and cover medical if they are not able to. The vet is offering it to them, for us. Will call them later tonight for an update. 
Update… well… the vets contacted the owners. The dog was Sunnyside. The owners live in Baytown. They are claiming they lost their dog when they got him 7 years ago… we are still sitting here waiting to see if they are going to relinquish the dog to WUWF.
The dog is emaciated and has had an awful life. I am not happy with the way this situation was handled by the Vet.
Update… at Westbury Animal Hospital.
This dog is currently on the side of the road. SPCA ambulance is saying that they probably can’t get there and if they do, it would be ours. I can pick up the dog but will need to raise funds to get him into the ER right now. He is lifting his head, but he is whimpering and crying.
Unfortunately, funds have been down this year for rescues and we would need to raise the funds for this! Please, if you can donate any amount, I would be extremely grateful. This poor dog is suffering and rescues are having to do the job that the city just isn’t doing. The only problem with that is we do not receive funding from the city.
Please, help us get this dog to the vet!
